Disney Confirms Star Wars Stand-Alone Movies

So after all of the speculation of Zack Snyder doing a “Seven Samurai” typed of Star Wars film outside of the new trilogy, it seems that at least part of the rumor is true.  Disney has confirmed that they will be making origin stories that will take place outside of the numbered films.  Included in these are movies about Boba Fett, Yoda, and a younger Han Solo.  According to Comingsoon.net:

“There has been speculation about some stand-alone films that are in development,” Iger tells CNBC. “I can confirm to you today that, in fact, we are working on a few stand-alone films. Larry Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on films derived from great ‘Star Wars’ characters that are not part of the overall saga. We still plan to make Episodes 7, 8, and 9, roughly over a six-year period of time, starting in 2015. There are going to be a few other films released in that time, too.”

I am intrigued by the Boba Fett film. The other two, however, don’t seem to interest me very much. Yoda has been over-exposed the past several years and I really can’t see another actor playing Han Solo. I guess we shall see. It does seem to show some promise because of the writers they have signed on.
