Video games are getting deeper and deeper. The stories are getting better and the voice acting is becoming top notch. Some rival and beat the current blockbusters in those categories. Here are some trailers for games that should be movies themselves.

WoW Gamers as They Wish They Were

I saw this today on YouTube. It is an interesting experiment of CGI and amateur film making. It is basically gamers going on with their everyday lives except they are their World of Warcraft characters. It is also an interesting commentary on the gamers themselves. Give a watch.

The End to an Era

Mark Hamill has, and always will be, an underrated talent. He is known most famously as Luke Skywalker from the original Star Wars trilogy. Most people don’t know though that he is an exceptional voice acting talent, lending his voice to the likes of “The Muppet Show” and the critically acclaimed “Batman: The Animated Series” where he voiced the Joker.

When he voiced the Joker, he became the Joker. He could be terrifying and silly all in the same breath. When paired with the outstanding Batman writer Paul Dini, Hamill would shine, as he did in “Batman Beyond: The Return of the Joker” and the video game “Batman: Arkham Asylum.” Hamill, however, is calling it quits on Mr. J. According to IGN, his last outing as the Joker will be “Batman: Arkham Asylum 2.”

But with The Joker forming such a large part of his acting career, it seems Hamill took some convincing to sign on for the sequel. “My answer to [developers Rocksteady] for the sequel was, ‘Guys, we’re never going to be able to top the original.’ It was so claustrophobic. There were so many abilities like the stealth mode, and all those things you can do with the new technology. I wanted to be able to say I’d gone out on a high note.”

It was the same reaction he’d had when Rocksteady first approached him about the role in the original Batman: Arkham Asylum. “When they said, ‘We want you to come back [to the role of The Joker] and do Arkham,’ I said the same; ‘I left on a high note, I don’t think we could ever top that.’ But they said, ‘We got Paul Dini,’ who was my favourite ever Joker writer, ‘and Kevin Conroy,’ who I love. This was a real reunion and a very pleasant experience. So of course I relented, but I had no idea it would have the impact it did.”

“This will be my last, there’s no question about that. But it’s the last hurrah.”

This is sad news for Batman fans, who all know that Hamill has done the voice of the Joker since 1992. It is truly the end of an era as we say goodbye to arguably the best Joker ever.

Just for fun, let’s put the trailer for the next Batman game up here. It is pretty awesome. Plus is has the awesome Hamill-Joker laugh at the end.
